Learning Objectives:
Describe our current understanding of fibrinolysis and identify the role of platelets in this system.
Identify mechanism-oriented details to describe how platelets are involved in regulating not only clot formation but its breakdown (fibrinolysis).
Establish the role of thrombin-activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor as a key down-regulator in platelet-dependent fibrinolysis by removing sites of plasminogen binding C-terminal lysines on surface of activated platelets.
