Learning Objectives:
Recognize most important female-specific risk factors for stroke, and be aware of the substantial interaction between migraine, the combined oral contraceptive pill and smoking on the effect of stroke
Interpret prediction models for stroke or cardiovascular disease that are developed with data-driven predictor selection using routine care data, especially also the methodological pitfalls resulting from using these data
Conduct more nuanced cardiovascular or stroke risk communication with women without prior cardiovascular disease, but with one or more female-specific risk factors.
