    Diane J. Nugent, MD is professor of Hematology in the department of Pediatrics at the University of California (UC) Irvine Medical Center. She is also clinical professor of Pediatrics at the UC Irvine School of Medicine in Irvine, California. At Children’s Hospital of Orange County, she is Chief of the Division of Hematology; Medical Director, Hemostasis/Thrombosis Program; and PI of HRSA grant to the Region IX Hemophilia Treatment Center and Pacific Sickle Cell Regional Consortium of 13 States.

    Dr. Nugent’s clinical and research interests include blood disorders, bone marrow failure, bleeding and clotting disorders, and white cell and immune deficiencies. She has published prolifically with almost 130 peer-reviewed articles and numerous book chapters.

    Dr. Nugent is founder and medical director for The Center for Comprehensive Care and Diagnosis of Inherited Blood Disorders as well as past president of the Hemostasis Thrombosis Research Society, has co-chaired the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis Scientific and Standardization Committee Platelet Physiology, and board member for the American Thrombosis & Hemostasis Network. She is also currently a member of the NHLBI Project Review Committee for the National Heart, Lung & Blood Institute; the Medical and Safety Advisory Council for the National Hemophilia Foundation; and both the subcommittee on Neonatal Hemostasis and the subcommittee on Platelet Immunology /Pathophysiology for the International Congress of Thrombosis and Hemostasis. Her major focus of interest is investigation of molecular variants's impact on clotting factor or platelet receptor function and characterization of genotype-phenotype relationship in bleeding disorders.
