Dr. Michael Vanlandewijck, Karolinska Institute.
In 2004, Michael Vanlandewijck graduated at the Catholic University of Leuven as a Master in Biomedical Sciences. One year later, he moved to Sweden to start his doctoral education at Uppsala University, under supervision of Prof. Aristidis Moustakas and Prof. Carl-Henrik Heldin. In 2011, he obtained his PhD in Molecular Biology. Soon after, he joined the lab of Prof. Christer Betsholtz as a postdoctoral fellow, working on the molecular profiling of vascular cells such as endothelial cells and pericytes. In 2015, he joined the Integrated Cardio Metabolic Centre (ICMC) at the Karolinska Institute where he focused on single cell sequencing of the blood brain barrier. In 2017, he became an assistant professor as well as the head of a single cell facility at ICMC. Today, Dr. Vanlandewijck works as a principal investigator and facility head at the Karolinska institute and is affiliated as a researcher to Uppsala University.
