Associate Professor Emma Josefsson´s research aims to better understand the processes of platelet production and function in health and disease. She received her PhD from the University of Gothenburg studying platelet cold storage at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston USA. During her postdoc at the WEHI in Melbourne Australia, she explored the molecular regulation of megakaryocyte and platelet apoptosis. She was a WEHI Laboratory Head (2011-2020) and recently joined the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg Sweden. Emma is a Co-Chairman of the ISTH SSC on Vascular Biology and a previous member of the ASH Scientific Committee on megakaryocytes and platelets.
