Prof Nicola J Mutch, PhD currently holds a personal Chair at the University of Aberdeen. Nicola Studied for a PhD at the University of Aberdeen in the field of thrombosis and vascular biology with Professor Nuala Booth. Nicola performed her post-doctoral studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the laboratory of Prof James Morrissey. Nicola transitioned back to the UK to take up a Tenue-Track Independent Research Fellowship within cardiovascular medicine at the University of Leeds, UK. She was subsequently awarded a British Heart Foundation Fellowship and returned to the University of Aberdeen. In 2017 Nicola was promoted to Reader and was awarded a Personal Chair in December 2021. Her laboratory aims to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms underpinning haemostasis and how these are perturbed in pathophysiological situations, such as myocardial infarction, stroke, deep vein thrombosis and haemorrhagic conditions.
