Dr. Pawlinski is an endowed Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned his graduate degree at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland and obtained postdoctoral training at the Scripps Research Institute (La Jolla, California).
Dr. Pawlinski and his group are interested in the role of coagulation proteases in the pathology of cardiovascular, neurological and hematological diseases. Over the last 10 years, a significant part of his research effort has focused on sickle cell disease, specifically on investigating the role of coagulation proteases in the pathology of this disease and understanding the mechanisms of coagulation activation and venous clot formation.
