I received my medical degree from the Medical University of Vienna in 2008 and started my scientific career the same year in the Thrombosis and Haemostasis Research Group of Ingrid Pabinger. I obtained my PhD degree in 2012 with my PhD Thesis entitled “Evaluation of Tissue Factor and Circulating Microparticles as Predictive Biomarkers for Venous Thromboembolism and Mortality in Cancer Patients“. In 2018 I was given his venia docendi for internal medicine.
I am consultant at the Clinical Division of Haematology and Haemostaseology, Department of Medicine I of the Medical University of Vienna. I have my scientific focus on the investigation of coagulant extracellular vesicles in clinical samples. I have published in international peer-reviewed journals and I am involved in international research co-operations. In 2017 I was elected co-chairman of the Scientific and Standardization Committee on Vascular Biology of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH). Until 2022 I was leading this subcommittee as chairman.
