Dr Thomas is a consultant haematologist at Cambridge University NHS Foundation Trust having been appointed in August 2017. His clinical interests are bleeding disorders, thrombophilia and obstetric haematology. Previously he completed registrar training in the South West Peninsula, Eastern region and London Deanery including time as a clinical fellow in haemostasis and thrombosis at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital. He has produced numerous publications within the field of haemostasis and thrombosis including the ISTH viscoelastic methods guidance. He is currently running several research projects at Cambridge in the field of clinical haemostasis including the management of recurrent venous thromboembolism and patients with bleeding disorder of unknown cause. He chairs the Trust drugs and therapeutic committee and also previously the UKHCDO unclassified bleeding disorder working party.
