Shannen Deconinck, PhD, Laboratory for Thrombosis Research, KU Leuven Kulak Kortrijk, Belgium. I obtained my PhD in Biochemistry/Biotechnology in 2021. During my PhD, I worked on the development of a novel targeted therapy to treat the acquired von Willebrand syndrome (aVWS) in patients with a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) and could demonstrate in vitro and in vivo proof-of-concept. As postdoctoral researcher in the group of prof. Vanhoorelbeke, I am now focusing on the valorization of the innovative therapy. This includes the creation of a spin-off, that will have as mission to continue to develop and commercialize our targeted therapy.
