John Morris is an NIH T32 trainee in hemostasis and thrombosis at the University of Pennsylvania and a postdoctoral fellow at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia under the mentorship of Dr. Lindsey George. Their work focuses on using gene therapy to improve hemostasis in patients living with Hemophilia. Specifically, through understanding the biochemistry of coagulation factor VIII (FVIII) and its involvement in the intrinsic Xase complex. Investigating the regulation of FVIII cofactor function has led to the development of mutant FVIII variants resistant to the specific modes of FVIII inactivation, which can be exploited for therapeutic benefit in the clinic.
