James Harte is a Medical Scientist at Cork University Hospital (Ireland) and a PhD Candidate in the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at University College Cork (Ireland). James graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science from Cork Institute of Technology and University College Cork (2019), and was subsequently awarded a Special Purpose Diploma in Clinical Laboratory Practice (2020). In 2021, James was awarded a competitive Lilly Research Scholarship to investigate the pathogenesis of SARS-CoV-2-associated COVID-19.
James’ research has been presented at national and international conferences, and is focused on the biochemical and haematological aspects of COVID-19 pathobiology. Currently, James is keenly interested in the role of monocyte population data as laboratory markers of SARS-CoV-2-associated COVID-19 (Harte and Mykytiv, 2021 [doi: 10.1515/cclm-2021-0096]; Harte et al., 2022 [ doi: 10.1515/cclm-2022-1066]) and the procoagulant role of monocytes and macrophages in COVID-19-associated coagulopathy.
