Michael B. Boffa, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and a Scientist at the Robarts Research Institute at the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Boffa completed his PhD in Biochemistry under the supervision of Dr. Michael Nesheim at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, and previously held faculty positions at Queen's University and University of Windsor. Dr. Boffa's research is focused on structure/function relationships in TAFI, thrombomomodulin, and lipoprotein(a), with a focus on fibrinolysis, atherosclerosis, and cancer metastasis. His work is funded by grants from Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. Outside of the lab, Dr. Boffa maintains an abiding interest in fast cars and loud guitars.
