Denise Bastas is a Clinical Research Project Assistant at the Hospital for Sick Children. She received an MSc in Kinesiology from the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education, University of Toronto. She has been working with Dr. Maria Laura Avila and the Thrombosis Research team for 2 years. Dr. Avila leads the SickKids research program in long-term outcomes of pediatric thrombosis, mainly focusing on post-thrombotic syndrome.
Denise’s work has focused on physical activity and pediatric thrombosis, including the impact of deep vein thrombosis to adolescent athletes and a scoping review of physical activity that can safely be performed while patients are being treated with anticoagulation.
