In collaboration with Dr. Andrew Naidech, we have demonstrated that the extent of hemorrhagic stroke is related to platelet dysfunction in patients receiving anti-platelet therapy. We found that platelet transfusions or desmopressin administration can limit bleeding and prevent enlargement of hemorrhagic strokes.
