Quintijn Bonnez is a third-year PhD candidate in Biochemistry and Biotechnology at IRF Life Sciences, Laboratory for Thrombosis Research. In 2018, he obtained a bachelor degree in Biology with a minor in Biochemistry from KU Leuven Campus Kulak Kortrijk. He received a Masters in Biochemistry and Biotechnology from KU Leuven in 2020. His research interests lie within fundamental protein studies in the field of thrombosis and hemostasis. His professional work focuses on the generation and characterization of autoantibodies from immune-mediated thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura patients as well as on the development of easy-to-use diagnostic assays for this severe thrombotic disorder. In 2022, he was a visiting research scholar at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, USA to study the structure/function relationship of ADAMTS13 upon monoclonal antibody mediated enzyme activation. To date, he has co-authored two peer-reviewed publications.
