Steven Bruzek, MS, MB(ASCP), Sr. Research Specialist in the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, is an early-career researcher who is building expertise and training in translational research. His experience to date has focused on molecular biology and microbiology techniques, with experience in clinical laboratories, where he was responsible for clinical molecular test development, validation, and implementation. His prior research experience focused on infectious disease molecular test development, including design, R&D, and regulatory testing for emergency use authorization of a SARS-CoV-2 assay, and development of an isothermal amplification multiplex panel for identification of gram-negative and gram-positive pathogens and antimicrobial resistance genes in bloodstream infections. His current work is focused on performing testing to support clinical research studies and innovation through assay development for coagulation and fibrinolysis assays, and microbiological assays of antibiotic tolerance.
