My name is Joanna Greenman, MBiol from the University of Durham. I’m currently in the final year of my PhD entitled “Mechanisms and functional consequences of platelet-immune cell cross-talk in type 2 immunity” at the University of York. The project has made extensive use of an infection model allowing in vivo platelet tracking, fluorescence microscopy and multi-coloured flow cytometry for detecting platelet-leukocyte aggregates. During my PhD I also had the opportunity to spend 3 months at CN-Bio, Cambridge on a professional internship programme where I gained an insight into the potential of organ-on-a-chip technology for analysing complex biological systems.
