Loïc J. R. M. Letertre is a French biomedical scientist who works at the coagulation research and development department at Landspitali – The National University Hospital of Iceland in Reykjavík.
After Loïc graduated with a BTS analyses biologiques in 2000 from the biomedical science school of Marmoutier in France, he was offered a position at the Fossvogur Hospital in Reykjavik. At the age of 21, he moved to Iceland and started his carrier as a biomedical scientist under the supervision of Isleifur Olafsson and Páll T. Onundarson. As his professional experience grew stronger, he became responsible for the blood cell morphology identification and urine microscopic analyses unit and was later hired as quality manager at the hematology laboratory.
Loïc was always fascinated by medical research, and it is in 2012 that he was hired as an active player of the coagulation research and development department. Since then, Loïc has dedicated his professional life to coagulation and research.
Along with his full-time employment at the Hospital, Loïc has grown an undeniable interest in new technologies and software development. He ultimately developed on his own two 3d teaching software. One software is dedicated to cell biology and the other to coagulation. In late 2021, along with his fulltime position at the coagulation department, Loïc started a master´s study in coagulation aiming for a subsequent PhD degree.
