My name is Katrien Bomhals and I'm a PhD student at the Center for Molecular and Vascular Biology (KU Leuven, Belgium). I joined the lab of Prof. Martinod in 2021 for a Master thesis studying the role of platelets in exacerbation of neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation, in the context of cardiac aging and remodeling. In October 2022, I continued my journey there as a PhD student. The focus of my research is on the role of immune cells, neutrophils and NETs in particular, in the development of age-related cardiac fibrosis.
