I am a Associate Professor in Pediatric Hematology Oncology at Oklahoma Children's Hospital, University of Oklahoma. I serve as Director of Oklahoma Center for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders, which is a federally funder Hemophilia Treatment Center for both pediatric and adult patients. I am currently serving as Interim Section Chief, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
My interest and passion is for the treatment and study of bleeding and clotting disorders. My research interests focus on improving care and clinical outcomes for patients with bleeding disorders.
At our center, we have initiated the utilization of point-of-care-musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) in the assessment joints and soft tissue bleeding in patients with severe Hemophilia, which allows for real time, acute and longitudinal assessment of joint health and bleeding events and has proved to be beneficial in optimizing treatment. We are conducting a multi-institutional feasibility study to demonstrate successful implementation of POC MSKUS in pediatric comprehensive hemophilia care model.
Dr. Kisha Beg and I are evaluating the outcomes of neonatal venous thromboembolism. We have completed a retrospective project in neonatal VTE which has been submitted for publication, and are planning to conduct a prospective study in catheter related neonatal thrombosis.
I serve as the site PI for a numerous investigator initiated, multi-institutional and pharmaceutical research trials in both hemostasis and thrombosis.
