Marie-Astrid van Dievoet obtained a master's degree in Medicine from the University of Leuven, Belgium, which was followed by a specialization in Clinical Biology at the University Hospital Leuven. After obtaining her degree in clinical biology, she started at the laboratory department of Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc where she supervises the coagulation laboratory. The clinical coagulation laboratory realizes both routine and specialized coagulation tests, including platelet function assays. Since Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc is a hemophilia reference center, the laboratory is also specialized in diagnosis and follow-up of hemophilia patients. In parallel of her clinical work, she started a PhD under the supervision of Prof. Xavier Stephenne, head of the pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology department, on platelets in chronic liver disease.
