Ms. Emma MacDonald attends the University of Waterloo to study Biomedical Sciences and is currently conducting research on children with cancer at the IWK Health Centre in the areas of cancer treatment impacts on the microbiome of children with cancer and the determining of survival impact of venous thrombosis in children with cancer. Studies include "Investigating the bacterial HtpG gene in pediatric cancer patients over the course of treatment" along with "Determination of oral and stool microbiome diversity from samples of children with cancer", and "Assessing the clinical impact, management and outcome of asymptomatic versus symptomatic venous thrombotic events in pediatric cancer patients".
