Dr. Ciavarella obtained is medical degree at University of Bari. During his training in Internal Medicine he worked at the Angelo Bianchi Bonomi Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center of Milan and he is currently part of the medical staff of the Center as well as a PhD candidate at the University of Milan. Dr. Ciavarella has a particular interest in hemorragic disorders such as Hemophilia A and B and von Willebrand disease. His main research field is cardiovascular disease in patients with Hemophilia and he was granted the 'Bayer Hemophilia Awards' in 2021 for a project on this topic.
