Post-doctoral Research Project Leader
Department of Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence, Synapse Research Institute, Maastricht, the Netherlands
Maastricht, Limburg, Netherlands
Dr. Romy de Laat-Kremers is the Research Project Leader at the Department of Data Analysis and Artificial at Intelligence Synapse Research Institute (Maastricht, the Netherlands). She obtained her Research Masters Degree in Cardiovascular Biology and Medicine in 2011 at Maastricht University. From 2011 until 2016, Dr. de Laat-Kremers was enrolled in a PhD program at Synapse Research Institute, studying the computational modeling of coagulation and thrombin generation. This research resulted in the development of a computational model that allows to study the thrombin generation process in more detail, by quantifying parameters of prothrombin conversion and thrombin inactivation. This method was named “Thrombin Dynamics Analysis”, and has been applied in many clinical studies since its development. In 2016, Dr. de Laat-Kremers successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled “Thrombin Dynamics”, after which she continued working at Synapse Research Institute. Dr. de Laat-Kremers is currently working at Synapse Research Institute as a Research Project Leader at the interface of coagulation research, computational modeling and artificial intelligence. Her main scientific interests are thrombin generation, thrombin dynamics, and the application of artificial intelligence methods to facilitate the translation of newly acquired scientific data in the field of coagulation research to the clinic.
