Postdoc
Laboratory of Applied Mechanobiology, Department of Health Sciences and Technology, ETH Zurich
Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland
I am Fabrizio Andrea Pennacchio, and I am currently group leader at ETH Zurich, working in the Laboratory of Applied Mechanobiology, headed by Prof. Viola Vogel. I studied Materials Engineering at the Università Federico II in Naples and earned my Ph.D. in Bioengineering in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT). There, my primary focus was on developing advanced systems for controlling cell-material interaction.
Following my Ph.D., I started working as a Junior Postdoc at the Istituto FIRC di Oncologia Molecolare (IFOM) in Milan, where I began my work in the field of Quantitative Mechanobiology. During my time there, I had the opportunity to complement my background in Bioengineering with advanced skills in Biophysics and Molecular Biology.
In June 2022, I joined the Vogel Lab as a Senior Postdoc, where I initiated a project on Hematology and Platelet Mechanobiology. This interdisciplinary field is emerging as crucial for understanding several patho-physiological conditions ranging from tissue regeneration to blood-related disorders and cancer dissemination. Since June 2023, I have been serving as Group Leader.
