I am Professor Pierre-Marie Roy, born in 1963 at Bressuire (Deux-Sèvres) in France.
I studied medicine at the University of Angers and obtained my medical degree as specialist in Internal Medicine (1993), Intensive Care Medicine (1996) and Emergency Medicine (1997). I have continued my career so far at the University Hospital Center and the University of Angers. I obtained a PhD (2005) and the Habilitation to lead Researches (2006) and I was appointed full Professor in Emergency Medicine in 2007.
I have been a clinical practitioner in the Department of Emergency Medicine since 1997, serving as Head from 2007 to 2020. I also have a clinical activity in the Department of Vascular Medicine and have been Head of the Thrombosis Unit since 2015.
I lead the ED clinical research team since 1997, affiliated to the Mitovasc Institut (CNRS 6015 - INSERM 1083) and the National research network InnoVTE.
I am also Head of the Board on Emergency & Thrombosis from the Société Française de Médecine d’Urgence.
My main research topics are :
- The right care in Emergency Medicine
- Diagnostic and management strategies
- Venous thrombo-embolism
- Anticoagulants
