Tanya L. Kowalczyk Mullins, MD, MS is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati, the Associate Division Director for Research for the Division of Adolescent and Transition Medicine, and a board-certified adolescent medicine physician. She completed her medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina, followed by pediatrics residency at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and fellowship training at Cincinnati Children’s. She subsequently completed a research fellowship through a National Research Service Award T32 grant at CCHMC and earned a Master of Science in Epidemiology/Clinical Research from the University of Cincinnati. Her research program focuses on optimizing care of transgender youth and prevention of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection among adolescents and has been funded by the NIH, the NIH-funded Adolescent Medicine Trials Network for HIV/AIDS Interventions, and industry. She is an elected member of the Society for Pediatric Research and a fellow in the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine. She collaborates with Dr. Eric Mullins (a pediatric hematologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center) to investigate thrombosis risk in transgender youth.
