Dr. Chantal Attard, BSc (Hons), PhD is paediatric haematology researcher from the Murdoch Children’s Research Instituted (MCRI) and University of Melbourne, located at The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. She has research expertise in paediatric and neonatal thrombosis and anticoagulation, with a special interest in paediatric cardiac populations.
Dr. Attard co-leads a research team with Prof. Paul Monagle, where she supervises four PhD students and numerous research staff with projects spanning paediatric/neonatal pre-clinical trials; development of normative clinical laboratory reference ranges; bleeding prevention in children undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass; age-specfic effects of Sars-cov2 on haemostasis; using proteomics to understand disease mechanism and to develop prognostic markers. Her work has generated 44 peer reviewed publications and two book chapters.
Dr. Attard is currently an investigator on grants from the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia, National Blood Authority as well as several industry funded grants.
In addition to her research, Dr. Attard serves as an executive director at the Australian Society on Medical Research where she advocates for sustainable and equitable funding across the sector. She also sits on the Melbourne University Human Research Ethics Committee.
