    Osman El-Maarri, Priv.-Doz, Ph.D, is a molecular medical geneticist working at the University of Bonn, Germany, in the Institute of Experimental Hematology and Transfusion Medicine. With over 80 scientific papers and reviews published or co-authored, El-Maarri's work focuses on a range of areas in the field of molecular medical genetics.

    One of his primary interests is basic research on hemophilia genetics and gene/cellular therapy for F8, with a goal of improving treatment options for this inherited bleeding disorder. El-Maarri also studies the regulation of gene expression with a focus on the associated role and patterns of DNA methylation, as well as the use of bioinformatics and computational biology to advance his research.

    El-Maarri takes a multidisciplinary approach to his work, collaborating with researchers from a variety of fields to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the complex processes he studies. He has supervised over 20 master's and Ph.D. students, mentoring and guiding the next generation of scientists.
