Dr. Susan Louw (MBBCh (Wits), FCPath (SA), MMed (Wits)), a haemotopathologist in the department of Molecular Medicine and Haematology at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), and in charge of the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) Coagulation Laboratory at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital (CMJAH) and a Clinical adjunct consultant. She is actively involved in research and under-and postgraduate teaching. She is the secretary-treasurer of the Southern African Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (SASTH). Her research interests include the hypercoagulable state in people with HIV infection, the pathogenesis of HIV-related thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) and activity testing of the direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs).
