Nienke van Rein is working as a hospital pharmacists, epidemiologist and clinical pharmacologist, specialised in anticoagulant treatment. She is based in the Leiden University Medical Center with a guest position at the University of Aarhus.
Nienke her research focusses on optimizing the balance between thrombosis and bleeding during antithrombotic treatment. Her research involves clinical (intervention) studies, nationwide pharmacoepidemiological data analyses and laboratory techniques such as proteomics in large cohorts and case-control studies. Furthermore, she participates in several local and (inter)national committees to further optimize antithrombotic care for patients treated in hospitals.
