Cécile Denis is director of research at INSERM (Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale) in Kremlin-Bicêtre Hospital. After completing her PhD in 1993 at University Paris-7, she spent the next seven years working at Harvard Medical School in Boston in Denisa Wagner's laboratory. Back in France, she obtained a permanent position at INSERM. She received prizes from the French Academy of Sciences (2006) and from her peers at the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) (2017), as a recognition of her pionneer work in the field of von Willebrand disease. She has received the French Légion d’Honneur in 2012. Since 2010, she is the director of Inserm Unit 1176, an academic team recognized for its work on bleeding disorders. She is a member of the scientific council of the faculty of medicine of University Paris-Saclay and is an elected member of the ISTH Council. She has published more than 140 articles in the field of Thrombosis and Haemostasis and is inventor on 11 related patents.
