Peter Collins is a professor of haematology at Cardiff University and an honorary consultant haematologist at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. He specialises in the management of acquired and congenital bleeding disorders through the Cardiff Haemophilia Centre and co-chiars the UKHCDO Data Analysis Group. His research interests include prophylaxis in haemophilia and the role of pharmacokinetics to individualise treatment, acquired haemophilia and factor VIII inhibitors. He has investigated the coagulopathy associated with bleeding after childbirth with a focus on point of care testing and fibrinogen replacement, co-leading a number of studies in the field. He has contributed to guidelines on the managemenr of postpartum haemorrhage. His basic science research covers the role of phospholipid membranes in the control of haemostasis nad their effect on bleeding and thrombotic diseases.
