Tímea Szántó, MD, PhD, at the moment finalizing her residency in Internal Medicine at the Helsinki University Central Hospital, Helsinki, Finland. She also holds specialty training in Clinical Chemistry and Hematology from the Helsinki University. She has actively participated to the laboratory and later clinical functions of the Coagulation Disorders Unit in Helsinki. She has a suitable basic training from Hungary, from the University of Debrecen and Belgium, from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven regarding her PhD.
She is engaged in different scientific projects within the research area of coagulation disorders, with main focuses on the on the complex clinical and laboratory evaluation of patients with inherited bleeding disorders, such as Von Willebrand disease, haemophilia and hypo/dysfibrinogenemia. She has been involved in the national and Nordic Haemophilia Council meetings and task forces. She has participated to ISTH and many Nordic meetings associated with the relevant topics. She has published approx. 30 peer-reviewed articles on the topic of coagulation disorders.
