Dr. Kerstin Jurk (Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis (CTH), University Medical Center Mainz, Germany) obtained her PhD in Biology on the cross-talk between platelets and leukocytes in the platelet group of Beate Kehrel in Münster, Germany. She continued platelet research as a postdoctoral researcher by elucidating mechanisms of platelet adhesion and their impact on vascular inflammation. In 2012, she finished her habilitation in “Experimental Vascular Medicine” and moved to the CTH Mainz, Germany where she established the CTH-platform “Platelet Function” and her platelet research group.
Her current research topics are the cross-talk of platelet activating and inhibitory signaling pathways in relation to platelet function and interaction with leukocytes and vascular cells, including clinical research and platelet function disorders.
