Mehran karimi is a Professor Eminent of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and has been practicing, teaching, and researching since 1997. He has also experience working in the field of hemophilia, homeostasis, thrombosis, sickle cell, thalassemia, and pediatric oncology for a period of 30 years.
After graduating in medicine from Shiraz University of Medical Science, he completed subspecialty in hematology with more focusing on thalassemia, sickle cell and hemophilia from Shiraz and Ahvaz Universities of Medical Sciences as well as two separate 6-months fellowship in Leeds, UK in 1996 and Milan, Italy in 2001 & 2003 as well as one year research at IHTC in Indianapolis, USA in 2016-2017.
He has research interests in the fields of hemophilia, thrombophilia, sickle cell and thalassemia and has been director of programs in these disease areas at the local region. He is a member of ISTH, ASH as well as a reviewer of some peer-reviewed journals. He also received two awards as a best researcher from Razi Festival in 2003 and 2008 in Iran and 15th Abu Reyhan Biruni Research Festival Award in 2014. He was also selected as a best researcher and a pioneer in hematology research in Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Iran from 2004 to 2018.
Professor Mehran Karimi has authored more than 370 articles and more than 350 abstracts in peer- reviewed journals and has been an invited speaker at many national and international meetings.
