Dr.Zulfikar, who graduated from Istanbul Medical School in 1981, completed his residency in Pediatrics in 1986 at the same school and became Associate Professor of Pediatrics in 1991, Pediatric Hematologist and Oncologist in 1994 and Professor in 2000. He conducted studies in London (1992 and 1993) and Chicago University Children’s Hospital (1993 and 1999).
Dr.Zülfikar was elected as a permanent member of Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) in 2012. He served as a member of the Board of Higher Education Council (YÖK 2004-2008), Vice President of Board of Specialty Medicine (TUK 2008-2012), Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bezmialem Foundation University (2010-2014) and Head of Department of Pediatric Hematology / Oncology at Istanbul University Oncology Institute (from 2004…). Chairing the 28th World Hemophilia Congress in 2008, he made it possible to hold the congress in Istanbul.
He is currently the founding president of the Hemophilia Society of Turkey and Head of Istanbul University Oncology Institute. Additionally, Professor in Department of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Istanbul University Oncology Institute.
He participates in many national and international projects on his specialization and he is the member of the board of director or the general board of many national and international organizations.
Dr.Zulfikar has 46 books and book chapters as well as 167 articles and 623 presentations published domestically or abroad. He was granted a total of 24 awards by universities, several non-governmental organizations, municipalities and private healthcare establishments for his services. Istanbul University gave him the "High Impact Scientific Work Award" in the first place in the year 2016.
