Dr. Mandy N. Lauw, MD PhD, is an Internist-Hematologist at the Dept. of Hematology, Erasmus University Medical Center (MC) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
She completed her Medical Degree (2010, with honors) and Ph.D. (2015, Hypercoagulability in hematological malignancies) at the Academic Medical Center, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She has also been a Research Fellow at the Population Health Research Institute, McMaster University, Hamilton, ON, Canada, between 2013 and 2019, mentored by Prof. Eikelboom, Prof. Weitz and Prof. Connolly.
Dr. Lauw did the majority of her medical residency at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam and transferred to the Erasmus University MC in 2019 to complete her clinical specialty training and hematology fellowship. She qualified as an Internist-Hematologist in June 2020.
Her areas of clinical and translational research interest include venous thrombosis, atrial fibrillation and anticoagulation therapy, with a special focus on splanchnic vein thrombosis, and the prevention and management of venous thrombosis in hematological malignancies. Her clinical interests include thrombosis and bleeding disorders, as well as hemoglobinopathies, and she practices the entire spectrum of non-malignant and malignant hematology. She is an advocate for early career professionals. She was a member of the ISTH Early Career Committee from 2013-2020 (and its Chair from 2015-2018) and is the current Chair of the YoungEHA committee of the European Hematology Association (EHA).
