Dr. Marisa Ninivaggi is a Research Project Leader at Synapse Research Institute (Maastricht, the Netherlands). In 2010 she obtained her master degree in Biomedical Sciences with honor at the University of Hasselt (Belgium). Subsequently she started her PhD internship at Synapse Research Institute, which is part of the Diagnostica Stago group. Her main research topic was the measurement of thrombin generation in various clinical diseases. After obtaining her PhD in 2014 she continued to work at Synapse till January 2016, whereafter she moved to Denmark to work as a senior scientist in the haemophilia department of Novo Nordisk. In July 2018 she moved back to Belgium and rejoined the Synapse group. During the last 12 years she had the opportunity to visit and collaborate with numerous renowned researchers abroad. Currently she is head of the research projects related to thrombin generation and guiding PhD students.
