    Tristan Groves (Dip clin Pharm,IP) is the senior anticoagulation and thrombosis pharmacist for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. He is based at the Heath hospital in Cardiff and works as part of multidisciplinary teams for the treatment of patients with non- cancer and cancer associated venous thromboembolism, as well as providing expert support and education for both primary and secondary care physicians and allied healthcare professionals.
    Over the past decade he has established and developed anticoagulation and thrombosis policies, pathways and guidelines for Cardiff and Vale UHB (such as the CAVUHB anticoagulation Local enhanced service for initiation of warfarin and then DOACS for Atrial fibrillation), which have been adopted by health boards across Wales.
    His research interest includes areas such as; effect of BMI and renal function on outcomes for patients treated for VTE with DOACs and the potential for drug interactions with systemic anticancer therapies and anticoagulation.
    He is also a member of the steering committee for the award winning all wales “Stop a Stroke / Atal Stroc” group set up to reduce AF related strokes across Wales, and his role also includes work as the pharmacist representative for the Welsh Cardiac Network.
