Simon Mantha MD, MPH is Attending Physician on the Hematology Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC). He is originally from Montreal and completed medical and residency training in the Université Laval Hospital Network, before moving on to fellowships in Hematology/Oncology and Transfusion Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center and Yale New Haven Hospital respectively. He then joined the Hematology Service at the Lahey Clinic, following which he completed a master's degree in public health at the Harvard School of Public Health before coming to MSKCC in 2012.
Dr Mantha is a clinical hematologist with special expertise in coagulation. His practice encompasses the whole spectrum of non-malignant blood diseases, including venous thromboembolism (VTE), bleeding disorders and cytopenias. He has particular interests in cancer-related disorders of hemostasis, clonal hematopoiesis, genomics and machine learning. Recent research work includes an assessment of how cancer-specific genetic alterations affect the risk of thromboembolism, application of deep learning to predict VTE events and the use of natural language processing in clinical research.
