Dr. P. Clint Spiegel, Jr., PhD is a professor of biochemistry in the Department of Chemistry at Western Washington University. As a protein biochemist and structural biologist, the primary focus of his research efforts has been to characterize the structure and function of blood coagulation factor VIII in circulatory complexes, specifically with antibody inhibitors, activated platelet surfaces, factor IXa, and von Willebrand factor. Dr. Spiegel leverages a multidisciplinary approach to characterizing factor VIII circulatory complexes, using small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), X-ray crystallography, cryogenic electron microscopy, and molecular dynamics.
