I am a postdoctoral fellow at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN. I’m a member of David Gailani's lab which is involved in studying the contribution of certain plasma clotting factors to the formation of fibrin clots in normal and pathological conditions. My current project is focused on elucidating the mechanisms involved in the clotting factor XII activation and activity. Utilizing a combination of site-directed mutagenesis, production of recombinant proteins in mammalian tissue culture, enzymology and classic coagulation assays we are investigation Factor XII structure/function relationships as they relate to the activation, the activity, and binding interactions involving factors PK and XI.
