My name is Ryanne Arisz and I am a third year PhD candidate at the department of Hematology within the Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. My research project involves the development and improvement of diagnostic assays for diagnosis and personalised treatment of patients with a bleeding disorder. Besides the improvement of diagnostic assays I also tend to develop a microfluidic device in which we would like to study the complete hemostasis of patients with a bleeding disorder. We hope to obtain more knowledge on the role of interactions between coagulation components and immune cells and incorporate the effect of shear stress on the clotting process. With this model we hope to identify important factors that can explain why patients with the same coagulation factor experience a different bleeding frequency.
