Dr. Nguyen is an assistant professor in vascular surgery at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and staff surgeon and researcher in the Department of Research & Development at the Portland VA Health Care System. She received an undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Economics from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. She received her medical doctorate at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts and returned to the west coast to complete a general surgery residency at Loma Linda University and vascular surgery residency at OHSU. Dr. Nguyen also completed a research fellowship in vascular biology at the University of California, San Francisco under the mentorship of Dr. Rajabrata Sarkar and Dr. Michael Conte. Dr. Nguyen is also a principal investigator of both clinical and basic science research projects in close collaboration with hematologists and biomedical engineers studying novel anticoagulantion, vascular disease, particularly venous diseases such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), post thrombotic syndrome (PTS), and central line associated thrombosis (CAT).
