Caroline Martens is a MD PhD researcher at the Center for Molecular and Vascular Biology at KU Leuven in Belgium. In her PhD work she investigates the interactions between neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), peptidylarginine deiminase 4 (PAD4), and a dysregulated VWF:ADAMTS13 axis in Gram-positive sepsis. Her main research interest is to study how these interactions contribute to sepsis-induced organ failure with a specific focus on kidney injury. Her work encompasses both fundamental and clinical research methods.
