Cecilia Guillermo is Professor of Hematology, Physician and Coordinator of Hemostasis and Thrombosis Unit at the University Hospital, Hospital de Clinicas, Montevideo, Uruguay.
She studied Medicine in Montevideo and she is a specialist in Hematology, Clinical Pathology Laboratory and Bone Marrow Transplantation. She joined the University Department of Hematology more than 30 years ago and has been instrumental in developing it into a National Reference on Hemostasis and Thrombosis.
Dr. Guillermo is a member of several professional societies, including the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, European Mediterranean League against Thrombosis Diseases, American Society of Hematology, European Hematology Association, Uruguayan Society of Hematology.
She is Secretary of the Grupo Cooperativo Latinoamericano de Hemostasia y Trombosis (CLAHT), past co-chair of Plasma Coagulation Inhibitors Scientific and Standardization Committee (SSC) and actual WTD Steering Committee Member of ISTH. She is past President of the Uruguayan Hematology Society (2015-2017).
Dr. Guillermo has a strong interest in Thrombosis and Thromboprophylaxis with a special interest in Cancer Associated Thrombosis. She has published numerous papers in national and international journals and has participated in the development of several international clinical guidelines.
