Dr. Mackenzie Bowman, PhD is a Research Associate in the laboratory of Dr. Paula James and an Assistant (Adjunct) Professor in the Department of Medicine at Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada.
Dr. Bowman joined the Clinical and Molecular Hemostasis Research Group at Queen’s University in 2004 and was initially involved in studies assessing the prevalence of von Willebrand disease (VWD), and the validation of bleeding assessment tools (BATs) for the diagnosis of VWD. She then obtained her PhD in Pathology and Molecular Medicine at Queen’s University which was focused on the genetics of Type 3 VWD. Her doctoral research and subsequent post-doctoral training used endothelial cell models to study the pathobiology of VWD, specifically using patient-derived endothelial colony forming cells (ECFCs). Dr. Bowman’s research continues to focus on endothelial cell models to study the pathobiology of VWD.
