Postdoctoral Fellow
Versiti Blood Research Institute
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States
Amy Siebert-McKenzie, Ph.D. is a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Alan Mast at Versiti Blood Research Institute (VBRI) in Wisconsin. She obtained her B.S. and M.S. in Biological Sciences and doctorate in Biomedical Sciences from Oakland University (OU) in Rochester, Michigan training in the areas of molecular endocrinology, pre-mRNA processing, and genetics of thrombosis and hemostasis. Her current research focuses on the function and expression of alternatively spliced Tissue Factor Pathway Inhibitor (TFPI) isoforms with particular interest in the biochemical and physiological interactions of TFPIα with Factor V and Factor V Leiden. Dr. Siebert-McKenzie has been actively involved in the scientific community, serving as vice-president of the OU chapter of Sigma Xi, co-chair of the 2020/2022 Gordon Research Seminar on Hemostasis and as a member of the VBRI Trainee Council. She has also received several awards for her work including a 2022 JTH Editor’s award and financial and research support from the VBRI Gilbert C. White II Director’s fellowship, a NIH T32 institutional training grant fellowship and recently, a NIH K99/R00 career development award. Dr. Siebert-McKenzie’s independent research program will investigate how distinct alternative splicing events in TFPI and other clotting factors modulate the hemostatic balance and how these events are dysregulated in bleeding and clotting disorders.
